Best of Vermont and Maine 2010 Pictures II – Lots of Nubble

Written by timsdd on Saturday, November 20th, 2010 in Vermont Pictures.

As DARK as it was out there this night, just goes to show you the latitiude a really long exposure will give you.

my Chrome exif  plug in says 707 for this pic, that must be how many seconds the exposure was!

Loved the blue from the sky in the water….really didn’t tweak it in post.

I said when I originally posted this, I should have tried more like this! But this was the only one where I used the zoom while the shutter was open.

Nubble Lighthouse, Long Exposures, STARS! – The Final Chapter

Written by timsdd on Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010 in Photography.

This HDR was a little over the top BUT I really loved the blue tones in the sky, wicked blue!

Check out the night fisherman too; bonus!

I went long on the exposure, liking the way the red light from the lighthouse was running (shining) into the night.

These star shots were like 15mins long I think.

They would have been even better if not for all the light noise (car head lights)

The light/salt/barnacles on the rocks make it look like snow! Pretty neat IMO.

And so ends the Nubble pictures (I think)! I hope you enjoyed them :-)

Nubble Lighthouse, Long Exposures Rocks and Waves

Written by timsdd on Tuesday, September 14th, 2010 in Photography.

Here’s a good example of HDR vs a traditional exposure.

Bascially the same composition but check out how the HDR really amps up the colors, specifically the saturation.

BUT, there is a trade off, usually that pertaining to noise. The HDR’s will typically have a lot more noise.

However, being the saturation junkie that I am, i can’t help but love the HDR’s and how they “pop”.

I didn’t love the rock so much, it just happened to be the best place to hide from a brief rain shower!

The sun came out! Really made the rocks shine and the water glean.
