Not sure if this building is the offices of the Catholic church or maybe where the priest lives? Another building altogether maybe used for church stuff :-D Very pretty though whatever it is used for!

VACATION 2010! VT & ME

Prior to leaving Austin we had some showers blow through the airport and on the way out on our way to Dallas there was some residual moisture in the air as evidenced by this rainbow. The rainbow was actually larger and more vivid but it took me a minute or so to bust out my camera! Note to self: be sure to have the camera in my lap when I have a window seat!!

Black River pictures. This time around I wanted to hit the falls from the other side of the river, not just from the path on Clinton St. Of course I took the HARD way to get there, clinging to the side of the steep bank. Thankfully I did not slip or tear myself up too bad. On the way out I found a much easier path and a road that would have taken me there! Ahhh the ‘ol hindsight.

I wanted to try something different towards the end. Hopefully you went get ‘motion’ sickness from some of them :P

The technique is simple if you have a zoom lens and a tri-pod. Make a long exposure and while the shutter is open move the focal length from 24-70 (or whatever it may be). Many times it comes up with a cool effect, sometimes not but it’s fun with digital to experiment like this. Not something I would have tried very often when shooting film.

I will admit, the effect is kind of uneasy on the eyes but I thought the contrasts between the darker surroundings and the brightness of the leaves would make for some cool zoom drags.
