Man, talk about annoying!!!
http://www.photrade.com/index.php?error=1
For about the 5th time in 2 weeks now, Photrade is DOWN!
All I know is that they’ve been having “server and database” issues. Of those approximate 5 outings, one of them was severe, I think they lost about a days worth of data and I’m not sure if they ever got everything restored. Accounts, photos, comments, and mail down the drain.
Thankfully all of the other outages have not affected any account information that I know of. HOWEVER, it is particularly annoying for me since my photos from my Photrade account for about 84.8% of my blog content!
I hope they either figure out the issue and corect it or at least let everyone know what is going on. I can’t imagine that the confidence level in Photrade is very high at the moment under the current circumstances!
I think it’s unfortunate from them because I have found the site very useful, I hope this is just a hiccup, a growing pain if you will.
Stay tuned?

Hi Tim?
I love your Macro work on Photrade!
I was just looking at them to see what they are all about. I am wanting to get into Microstock, and even have a great domain name, (see my website name – it’s not up yet) for my own site. I’m thinking of selling cd’s of niche photo’s and objects. Anyway, I wanted to know if Photrade is making you anything. They have no info about their pay scale on their site. Do other webmasters use your images? Have you sold anything? If these questions are too personal, you could just give me a general opinion of their performance. If they have an affiliate program, which I didn’t see, I will join through your link.
THANKS!
Leah

Hi Leah, thanks for the comment and questions.
They are (when the site is up….which is most of the time) a great tool for photographers to showcase and sell their work. I think they have a big potential in stock photography but have a long way to go before they would be considered a sole alternate to the microstock agencies like istock and shutterstock…whom BTW I can’t stand! (the larger companies can be such a PITA to deal with not to mention the compensation is 1/6th of what you could potentially make @ Photrade).
I have made a decent size chunk of change with photrade. I have sold several prints and a couple of digital licenses…along with earning from their ad revenue system.
They do not have an affiliate program as of yet but I know it has been mentioned for fuuture works. Right now they just need to fix their server and DB issues for sure!!!
So to sum up, they are def worth joining but not to the point that I would rely solely on them to generate $

Thanks Tim! I appreciate your reply. I will definitely join. I’m not finished sorting through my 100,’s of photo’s for my best ones yet, so I will wait, and see if they have an affiliate program by the time I join! You were on the front page at Photrade as the most active member you know, even before their CEO! I do have a couple more questions.
Do you get paid from views on your own blog? Also, how do you get around other webmasters not wanting to link to photo’s with a watermark? Can I use my own that is smaller, or an embeded watermark that only shows up with a mouse over?
Do you mind if I ask what agencies you use? Also, do you use Adobe or Corel for your special effects, HDR, and editing. I have Corel PSP Ultimate and PS Elements 5 with onOne essentials. I like PSP better, as it has more raw functionality, and masks, plus a lot of other things that elements doesn’t do, but I’m sure Photoshop, when I can afford it, is the best of both worlds. :-}
I’d love to talk more with you, if you can read my email address from your blog.
Thanks again! I’ve saved your blog in my favorites!
