Macro Salt! Like you’ve never seen it before?

I can’t remember if I started taking pictures of dried up salt by accident or on purpose. There is something about it though that I keep going back to. I find the way that the salt dries and reforms to be quite interesting.

I don’t think I’ve ever just taken a picture of table salt right out of the canister. I always mix it up with water, let it dry, and then watch the fun start to happen. Then with my 2 lens macro setup I can get in really close and expose the intricate patterns and crystals.

This particular set did not yield any large crystals like I have had form in the past but there are quite a few formations that turned out nicely. This set was done in a black bowl with a clear bottom so that I could shine the light up through the bottom and get some good lighting.

Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain. (1 Corinthians 15:58, ESV)
