Have water, will drop. Trying to capture water drops II
Some more interesting formations here.
One of the changes I mad with this set (that I may have mentioned in the previous post) was the height from which the drops fell into the water. My water bottle tends to release several drops @ a time instead of just one, and so the height and volume of the drops combined made for some rather large splash downs!

[...] inspiration for this series was a set of photos I discovered on Tim’s Digital Darkroom. Tim’s done a few of these series and I know he uses something a little better than a point [...]

Nice set of drops Tim. In fact you have inspired me to take a few of my own. One was actually very surprising as it appeared to be an apparition of a person?
How did you get the color to be such a vibrant blue?

Thank you, though I’ll be honest with you, they look a lot better on my 20″WS LCD monitor at full size than a dinky jpg online. Also, the jpgs tend to look a lot less vibrant and detailed than the full size PS files! (understandably)
but
I
digress!!
Cool, I’ll have to check your set and TY for the TB (track back) yo!
the blue might be a slight PS tweak but mostly it’s b/c I used a black sheet underneath the water. I gues the flash makes it look more blue than black on account of the flash’s color temperature.

Ah, you used flash. Silly of me not to think of that. That would freeze the whole thing perfectly. I just did mine using the light from the kitchen window and I reckon the shutter speed may have not been quick enough. Will have to keep that in mind for the next lot.

Yes! I meant to ask you about that. When I first tried drops I was clueless on the flash too…I thought fast shutter speed, high ISO would get me there but not the case!
Try the flashing (with the camera) and I bet you’ll see marked improvements.

Yep, I reckon that I may have to eventually get me a digital SLR. Any recommendations?

I like Canon, and for that I would FTW. I’m not up to speed in the latest and greatest.
The Rebel XSi is solid though, I’d start there and see what the Nikon equiv. would be and see how they stack up!

Cool, I’ll keep those in mind when I’ve got the spare cash to shop.
