First off, this was a REAL treat. I literally did not know what I was going to find. For one thing the sky was a muted gray….though the HDR really makes them gritty, almost post apocalyptic….ok, maybe that’s a stretch but needless to say the sky looks A LOT cooler than I anticipated. The camera really captured more than my eyes could in this case.
Secondly, I was THRILLED to no end to find the campus OPEN. I was able to check out the insides of a lot of the buildings, though it was sometimes hit or miss as I could not remember which buildings had impressive interiors vs. just a basic block and hall system. The Student Union, most of which was not there when we were students, was RATHER impressive.
I am so glad I took the time to check it out as often I just sit on my duff and vegetate while we are visiting Lubbock. I am now inspired!
The inside of the Student Union….is this COOL or what! Many lounge areas of course, none more cool looking than the top floor (pictured in a future post). On the very bottom level you have a few pool tables and computer terminals…I dig! I know it’s hard to see but on the Raider statue, there are a couple of tiny people trying to help him along….very funny.
From the new to the old and as you will see, the latter is equally if not more impressive.
Is this the coolest entry way to a college building or what?
There are many instances where in retrospect I could have gained some sweet detail shots, see doorway on the middle left; but I was thinking all FISH-EYE on this trip.
At least this way I know what to focus on more next time, especially if the sky does not cooperate on my next visit.
This was a special library of some kind….I think I might have to check out a map for some of these places so I can talk intelligently!
Loved the Christmas decorations. There was even a sensor that triggered Cmas music, very cool!
Another library, loving the hues from the glass. I would have gone inside but surely I figured you would have needed an ID for access.
