This is it! We have made it to the end of my 7th time trying to catch water drops.

I have learned many things having done this, and I hope you had some fun along the way.

Of curse be sure to notice the setup pictures I have included with this final set in this series…hopefully I did a good enough job labeling that you get the idea!

I thought it was high time to break up the drops series again (even though I only ave one more in this set to go!)

This is the Canon 50mm/1.4

The 1.4 meaning how wide the aperture can open, I.E. 1) it’s fast, 2) it can give a very shallow DOF (depth of field).

This is a very useful prime lens. If I were using a camera that had a full frame sensor (instead of most DSLR’s that have a crop factor of 1.6) 50mm is basically a WYSIWYG lens. Meaning what you view through the viewfinder is about what you’ll capture on your sensor.

I used this lens almost exclusively for shooting live music b/c I never used a flash when doing so. The F/1.4 allows you to use a very fast shutter speed compared to most lenses.

I also use this lens to mount onto the end of my Sigma macro lens, thus achieving a diopter magnification effect. Instead of the 1:1 magnification ratio that I can achieve with my macro lens, the 2 lenses combined gives me roughly a 3:1 magnification.

7th time trying to capture water drops Volume 8

Written by timsdd on Monday, October 20th, 2008 in Photography, Water Drops.

This is the next to last volume from the “7th time”.

I think many from this set represent very unique formations. I’m not sure why it happened like that. Maybe since the water level in my bottle was a lot lower than when I first started, maybe I was getting a different flow of drops.

Enjoy! And stayed tuned for the finale, I’ll have a couple of picture of the setup I used.

But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them ever sing for joy, and spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may exult in you. For you bless the righteous, O LORD; you cover him with favor as with a shield. (Psalm 5:11-12, ESV)
