Baltimore (VT) covered bridge

Written by timsdd on Monday, August 16th, 2010 in Vermont Pictures.

I got pinched! I found myself left with one picture from my Springfield VT picture set, and what is next, Maine! I didn’t want to leave this one out though since it is the only covered bridge I shot the entire trip!

Town Lattice, 37′, spanning an unnamed brook next to the Eureka Schoolhouse on Route 106. A State Historic Site, relocated and restored by Milton Graton & Sons in 1970.

On deck are probably some Dallas Cowboys pictures and then BOOM! Nubble Light @ Night!!

HDR (High dynamic range) tree photos. This would have been better suited for the fall on a cloudy day, neither of which were possible! But I liked them well enough to share and I’ll leave it @ that :)

I’m a creature of order (I like going in order) and so you might be sick of these river pics by now but none to worry, we’re almost done with them ;-)]

This one was WAY underexposed, so I pushed it +3 and dropped the hammer on the black :)

This one with the FE is VERY misleading. What I was trying to show is the immense drop off from the point @ which I am standing but the lens really brought everything shallow. Trust me when I say that the bank is MUCH steeper than the lens gives it credit for. Also, I wasn’t trying to be cute including myself in the frame, this was my natural stance and that is how much that lens can pick up!

A regular shot for comparison :)

Moving Dirt Road, Eureka Schoolhouse, Black River Pictures

Written by timsdd on Wednesday, August 11th, 2010 in Vermont Pictures.

This is probably the best and my favorite shot of all the ones I took this day, (not in a van) down by the river. VT has had quite a dry summer so I was lucky that the river had excellent flow for this section of falls. Last year the water was too high actually, I think it kind of ‘washed out’ some of the breaks.

I think this is a pretty neat shot, I like how it starts ultra wide and then tapers into a bottleneck shape as the river goes downstream.

I took this shot quite by accident, fiddling with the camera and or tri-pod, as I was getting ready to walk down the road. Sometimes some of your most interesting shots are taken in this matter, by chance. I kind of liked how it looked with the motion.

More of the Eureka Schoolhouse, this one obviously was using the Fish-eye lens in a dramatic fashion to magnify the barrel distortion.

But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them ever sing for joy, and spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may exult in you. For you bless the righteous, O LORD; you cover him with favor as with a shield. (Psalm 5:11-12, ESV)
