Painting without a brush – Paint in motion II

Written by timsdd on Tuesday, February 7th, 2012 in Photography.

These are the last of ‘Round 2′. Round 1 was a small set just to get a feel. The images from R2 were much more technically and artistically pleasing IMO.

Round 3 were ones I shot with a 50mm lens instead of the 105mm macro. I also shot from a much lower vantage point with the 50. I went to a 4th round, back to the 105 and included more of the base of where the paint is launching from….figured I could always crop the bottom if I wanted.

Haven’t mentioned it before, but I apologize for the compression you see near the edges of some of the paint. Going from 2-3MB to a 75K web display really limits you sometimes, you can really see it here!

Painting without a brush – Paint in motion!!

This first one rocks! Might be my favorite of the lot of them.

Need to experiment with the flashes more next time. The flat panel especially, try making the flash “less visible” in the paint by using a color but still getting enough illumination to highlight the paint.

Macro Paint Sculptures – Getting some amplitude II

Written by timsdd on Tuesday, January 31st, 2012 in Photography.

As you can see some of these were getting rather complex in terms of shapes and magnitudes. When in doubt, use more paint! I’m glad I dug out the BIG drop cloth so that I didn’t have any reservations in letting that paint fly!

But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them ever sing for joy, and spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may exult in you. For you bless the righteous, O LORD; you cover him with favor as with a shield. (Psalm 5:11-12, ESV)
