Austin Texas Live Music Pictures: The Used
Written by timsdd on December 20th, 2008 in Austin Texas Live Music Pictures.
I think most everyone has heard of these guys, I mean not including myself! I was (or am) out of the loop on popular music!
The Used – As well known as these guys are, they are only the 2nd most popular act I’ve been able to shoot…stay tuned to find out who the most popular act was).
While I had never heard of them or any of their songs, they sure put on a good show. The lead singer (Bart?) was ALL over the place and then some. They played @ Stubb’s which is a pretty nice venue to shoot at. Most of the acts that play there are well known and they have a real stage with real lighting so that is a huge plus. The only drawback is that with the well know acts, you’re only alloweed to shoot @ stage level for the 1st 3 songs of the set. So you have to work fast and efficient.

Does look a wild show! BTW count me out of the loop as well
The lighting does appear to be in your favor which is certainly unusual for these sort live acts. 3 songs? That’s it! No kidding about working fast!

It was dude. he got into the pit and interacted with the crowd and everything.
The lighting was great, so much so that I used 800ISO the whole time! Usually it’s 1600 or nothing! I used to dabble with 3200 sometimes too but as you know with the 300D….fohget about it!
That’s the way the ‘top end’ concerts are (and all the ones @ Stubb’s I think) 3 and you’re out. I guess that way the acts can relax and or be crazy nuts? For instance…after about the 5th song (when I was long gone) Bart (the lead singer from The Used) stage dove into the crowd except he jumped off the stairs! The stairs go to the next level overlooking stage right! It was crazy, too bad I couldn’t have captured it!

If they are ever there again….I want full time shooting rights! Especially since our cameras will handle better than the old rebel. Would be tons of fun!

Sean asked me if I had any shots I took in Dec…I said no.
I haven’t shot anything in a couple years! Def need to try the new bodies out though!
