A West Texas Sunset

Written by timsdd on January 19th, 2009 in Uncategorized.

Say what you will about West Texas, dry, flat, barren, ugly…but they sure do have some killer sunsets!

And of course I am making general statements about what you might say about West TX. There are in fact many portions that are quite scenic, you just have to know where to look to find them!

I took these Christmas night I think it was, stunning IMO.

Okay, so are the colors all natural? Filtered? Photoshop?

    Good question(s).

I edit almost all of my photos, many (preferably) only slight adjustments.

Often times I’ll just try to reproduce what I remember seeing when I took the shot. Since the human eye >>>>> my camera sensor in terms of light and color sensitivity, the photos need as little help. Some consider PS being evil or non pure in some way. I think they are crazy. Ansel Adams spent years in his darkroom…what do you think he was doing? He was tweaking his shots (old school instead of PS).

These shots (and most that I edit), I usually adjust levels/curves, sometimes contrast and saturation. These did not need much help in regard to the latter.

So the short of it: some minor PS, no filters :)

But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them ever sing for joy, and spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may exult in you. For you bless the righteous, O LORD; you cover him with favor as with a shield. (Psalm 5:11-12, ESV)
